Welcoming Co-Director A. Tunç Şen

The Center for Science and Society is delighted to announce A. Tunç Şen as the Center's new Co-Director. He'll join current Co-Director Rhiannon Stephens and Founding Director Pamela Smith. Tunç will help shepherd our programming while also serving as our new Director of Undergraduate Studies for our Science and Society minor.

Already a member of our Executive Committee, Tunç is an Associate Professor of History. He is a social and cultural historian of intellectual practices focused mainly on the Ottoman Empire and its many connections with the early modern world. 

Meanwhile, Founding Director Pamela Smith will be on sabbatical leave during the 2026-2027 academic year.
