The Center for Science is pleased to announce that the Making and Knowing Project (a Center for Science and Society Research Cluster) has been awarded funds from the National Science Foundation for "Crafting an Open Source Digital Publication Tool for the History of Science." The Cluster is led by Pamela Smith, who also serves as the Founding Director of the Center.

Demand for digital versions of texts increased during COVID, yet no simple digital edition publication tool exists. The award supports the development of an open-source, customizable publishing tool, EditionCrafter, that will allow users to deploy their own texts, data, and commentary as low-maintenance digital critical editions. Based on the Making and Knowing Project's own digital critical edition, EditionCrafter will enable low-barrier, sustainable publication of digital projects that are easy and low-cost to publish and maintain, enabling knowledge exchange now and into the future.

Congratulations to Pamela and the Making and Knowing team!
