Researchers have recently discovered that massive ice sheets in Greenland and the Antarctic are collapsing, which will cause global sea level to rise higher and faster than previous models have predicted. What does this mean for coastal cities like New York, where average high tides could conceivably be higher than the water rose during Hurricane Sandy? What do we know about ice sheet collapse and what is New York City doing to prepare for sea level rise? Who will be most affected and why?
