Job Opportunity: Lecturer in Writing, Ethics and Economics in Sustainable Energy Engineering, Simon Fraser University

Eligibility:

  • Ph.D., M.A.Sc or M.Eng. in engineering, in energy systems, mechanical engineering, civil & environmental engineering, mechatronic systems engineering, electrical and computer engineering, engineering physics, or another closely related discipline
  • Proven excellence in developing and teaching engineering courses at the undergraduate and (where applicable) graduate levels
  • Excellent communication skills and commitment to a team-based working culture
  • Demonstrated passion for sustainability in engineering practice
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Eligibility to register as a Professional Engineer with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia within one year of assuming the position.
  • All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadian citizens and permanent residents will be given priority.

Description:

The Faculty of Applied Sciences at Simon Fraser University is expanding. As part of its growth, the Faculty is launching a new program in Sustainable Energy Engineering (SEE), with its first students arriving in Fall 2019 and housed in a newly constructed, state of the art engineering expansion to the SFU Surrey campus. Our goal is to create a program and culture where innovation and inclusion go hand in hand. Applications are invited for a continuing teaching position in the SEE program, as part of the faculty complement that will launch this exciting initiative. Applications will be considered at the ranks of Lecturer and Senior Lecturer.

The successful candidate will report to the Director of the SEE program and their primary responsibilities will include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Developing course content, and teaching a regular course load
  • Contributing actively in building a vibrant culture in the SEE program, with service contributions that might include a lead role.
