Inner Asian empires, from the Huns to and Mongols and Manchus, were the political creation of pastoral nomads and other peoples who shared in their cultural sphere. Employing an interdisciplinary research approach that includes climate science, history, archaeology, anthropology and other disciplines this course will focus on case studies from different periods and regions to explore the potential impact of climate variability on their rise and fall.
