Eligibility: 

All applicants should have a PhD in art history or expect to complete all requirements for the PhD by September 2019. Must have proven experience with digital art history scholarship that has engaged innovative IT solutions, enterprise systems, outsourced environments, and open source developments. Proficiency in one or more European languages.

Description: 

The Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts (CASVA) at the National Gallery of Art (NGA) is accepting applications for the position of Postdoctoral Research Associate for Digital Projects. The Associate will provide the CASVA deans with guidance, technical support, and implementation for computer-based scholarly research projects and publications. Ensures that digital projects meet the specific research goals of the deans and compliance with NGA technical requirements and resources. This position supports the NGA mission to strengthen digital outreach and collaboration in ways that increase public access to CASVA-sponsored research.

The position is a full-time salaried appointment with a two-year term, with possibility for renewal. As members of CASVA’s scholarly community, they are expected to participate in ongoing meetings and programs at the Center and to develop their own scholarship. One day per week is available to pursue research in personal areas of specialization.
