Description

  • Columbia Space Initiative has partnered with the Sophie Gerson Healthy Youth organization to provide a five-week introductory aerospace education for underprivileged middle school students in New York City. 
  • Funds will support additional volunteers, supplies for hands-on projects, and technological support. 
  • Students will have the opportunity to visit Columbia University's campus to present their research activities.

Description

  • Working with the Secondary School Field Research Program at Columbia University, this program will provide opportunities to learn about environmental issues through a community-based perspective.
  • Local high school students from the Washington Heights Expeditionary Learning School will conduct fieldwork in Inwood Park guided by Columbia University graduate and undergraduate students.
  • Both the high school and undergraduate students will receive financial support, making the program viable for students regardless of their economic situation.
