Event Description

The Paris Climate Agreement was unanimously adopted by 194 countries in 2015 against considerable odds.  The Agreement set an ambitious goal of limiting the global average temperature increase to well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels and pursuing efforts to restrict the increase to 1.5°C. The United States, a major force in the successful ratification of the Accord, has since pulled out of the agreement twice, most recently in January 2026.

Can international policymaking still play a significant role in addressing the climate crisis? This event will explore how countries can continue to strengthen international cooperation in the face of the climate crisis. Speakers will ask how multilateral platforms can still be relevant in generating action to combat climate change.
