Event Description

Pacific Island nations are the crossroads of multiple competing dilemmas. From geopolitical strategic competition to the best pathways for sustainable and resilient communities, states like French Polynesia are grappling with ways to balance global demand for marine resources in their sovereign waters with local stewardship and conservation. This event will discuss the approach the French Polynesia's government is taking to navigate the dilemmas of deep-sea mining and other resource issues as they strive to protect the pacific ocean’s last pristine waters.
