Event Description:

Museum of the Moving Image's Science on Screen series presents an advance screening of the new film To Dust, starring Matthew Broderick and Geza Rohrig. Rohrig plays Shmuel, a Hasidic cantor mourning the death of his wife who becomes increasingly obsessed with the state of her body six feet underground. (Judaism teaches that the soul cannot rest until the body turns to dust.) Seeking answers, he develops a clandestine partnership with Albert (Matthew Broderick), a community college biology professor. This film will be introduced by producer Emily Mortimer, and followed by a conversation between Rohrig, director Shawn Snyder, and microbiologist Maria Gloria Dominguez-Bello about life after death from a microbial perspective.
