Mapping AI: Hype

February 4, 2026
5:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Event time is displayed in your time zone.
Fayerweather Hall (Room 513), Columbia University, 1180 Amsterdam Avenue, New York

Event Description

This event is a primer on AI. What is AI, anyway? What does "generative" mean? Is AI sentient? What kinds of AI are there? And where might we find it across Columbia and Barnard? Experts will help us understand what AI is and isn't and unpack the hype around it. Following presentations and a Q&A, audience members are invited to start drafting a map that locates AI usage on campus.

Event Speaker

Chris Wiggins, Associate Professor of Applied Mathematics and Systems Biology at Columbia University
