Event Description: 

Please join the Poets House for "Literary Partners Program: Poetry and Mathematics: A Conversation & Book Launch," featuring Emily Grosholz, Edward Rothstein, and Grace Schulman. Emily Grosholz will discuss her new book, Great Circles: The Transits of Mathematics and Poetry, with Edward Rothstein. Great Circles explores the ways that poets use mathematical notions to make their poems memorable, reconciling time with eternity, the finite and infinite. It also explores how mathematicians have used poetic figures of thought like metaphor and irony to invent new mathematics from Euclid to the present day. Grace Schulman will introduce her.
