We have access to accounts of hysteria, more or less exclusively, through the male gaze of the physician. In response, Hysteria from the Archives engages with both phenomenology (the experiences of women diagnosed with hysteria) and rhetoric (narratives, symbols, and performance) through a collection of poems written out of late 19th century sources on hysteria.
