Event Description

Most histories of voting end in 1965, with the Voting Rights Act. Yet more and more new regulations pop up each year impeding the right to vote: felon disfranchisement, citizens living in Puerto Rico, DC, and other territories, "mental capacity" bars, and new bureaucratic hassles. Julilly Kohler-Hausman will analyze how shrinking the voter base occurred and its consequences for electoral outcomes and social policy today.

Event Speaker

Julilly Kohler-Hausmann, Associate Professor of History at Cornell University
