Event Description

An event discussing the many aspects of what makes Jean-Michel Lesdel's music innovative and singular and how Jean-Michel draws inspiration from the many different hats he wears as a musician from a colonized region. His work is focused on the intricate relationship between tradition and modernity, within the larger framework of western art music and colonization, specifically in Guadeloupe. He will consider creolization in both its musical aspect and its colonial aspect. Jean-Michel will also speak about traditional improvisation and written music, and how this dichotomy can be expressed within the context of his latest studio album, Vision 2.

Event Speaker
