Event Description:

Please join President Beilock as we welcome First Lady Chirlane McCray to Barnard for the Gracie Book Club, presented by First Lady McCray and the Gracie Mansion Conservancy, in collaboration with ThriveNYC. The 2018-2019 series explores the stigma that surrounds mental illness, focusing on books that offer an opportunity to challenge our biases and stereotypes through the power of storytelling. With this knowledge we can become better stewards of our own mental health and healers in our community.

Author Nana-Ama Danquah and moderator, Professor of Psychology and Africana Studies, Colin Wayne Leach will discuss Danquah's Willow Weep for Me: A Black Woman’s Journey Through Depression, a Memoir.

This event is free and open to the public, but registration is recommended.
