Event Description

This conversation is part of an inter-Institute initiative among Columbia’s Data Science Institute, Earth Institute, and Zuckerman Institute to advance the science of data-driven decision making in the context of climate change. The initiative builds on research about decision making, which has been rapidly advancing in multiple disciplines including neuroscience, psychology, economics, climate science and data science. Yet each discipline examines decisions in very different contexts and scales, leaving wide gaps in the research focus, methods, and applications, and moreover limiting communication across disciplines. The goal of this initiative is to bridge these gaps and facilitate the interdisciplinary integration of knowledge to foster new insights, applications and interventions in decisions that affect individuals, communities, and policy makers. This event builds on meetings of the three Institutes for the past year and looks forward to further activities over the next two years.
