Event Description

Scientists can often see the signs of El Niño months before many of its effects are fully felt. They can identify where drought, flooding, heat, and other disruptions may be more likely. But knowing what may be coming does not always mean that people, organizations, and communities are ready for it. Using El Niño as a starting point, the panel will consider how people respond to climate information and how decisions are shaped by leadership, institutions, communication, culture, incentives, and human behavior.
