Event Description

We’ve all heard the hype, but what does the economic data actually say about the AI revolution? Artificial intelligence technology is likely to be the next general purpose technology, with potential to have an outsized impact on productivity and our standard of living. As with electricity and the internet, this impact depends on redesigning systems, rather than inserting AI into existing processes. Economic models of the implications of these changes on existential risk, jobs, inequality, market power, and misinformation point to where ambiguity lies and where it does not.

Event Speaker

Avi Goldfarb, Chair in Artificial Intelligence and Healthcare at the University of Toronto
