Event Description

On September 5, 2025, the Lamont-Doherty Tree Ring Lab will celebrate 50 years of pioneering research. Since its founding in 1975, the Lab has led the global effort to use tree-ring science to understand past climates and environmental change better—and to apply this knowledge to future climate projections.

To mark this milestone, a special colloquium will highlight the Lab’s significant scientific contributions over the past five decades. Presentations will cover current research on climate patterns, archaeological timelines, and the effects of human activity on forests, ecosystems, and carbon cycling. The event will also look ahead to the Lab’s future tree-ring and ecological research directions.
