Sandra Soo-Jin Lee

Sandra Soo-Jin Lee is a Professor of Medical Humanities and Ethics at Columbia University and Co-Director of the Center for the Ethical, Legal and Social Implications of Genetics and Genomics. She also leads the Columbia Division of Ethics. A medical anthropologist, her research focuses on the ethical governance and social dimensions of emerging biotechnologies, including scientific collaboration, benefit-sharing and institutional accountability. She writes for multi-disciplinary audiences and has authored over 100 publications in the science, medical, bioethics, and social science literatures. She has received fellowships from the Rockefeller Foundation in the Humanities, the Wenner-Gren Foundation, the University of Edinburgh, and the School for Advanced Research. She serves on the Council of Fellows at the Hastings Center and on the editorial boards of the American Journal of Bioethics and Narrative Inquiry in Bioethics and was the President of the Association of Bioethics Program Directors.
