What is the relationship between religion and medicine in the United States? How have ideas about bodies and bodily difference shaped American public life? This course takes a historical approach to these questions from the colonial era to the present day. Working at the intersection of religious studies and the history of medicine, we will explore critical shifts in medical thought and practice.
