In October 2025, expert dyers and weavers Bertha Estrada Huipe and her son Mateo visited Columbia University from Michoacán, Mexico. Over 10 days, they introduced students to Purépecha dyeing and weaving traditions. 

In this video, Bertha and Mateo visit Chinatown Soup to discuss their artistic process with Timothy Hsu.
