Job Opportunity: Research Assistant, Computer Science, Columbia University

Description:

Amir Baradaran, adjunct faculty at Columbia University, seeks a PhD research assistant to aide in research within the field of art and emerging technologies. Preference will be given to students who are familiar with queer theory, indigenous theories, social justice and emerging technologies (Artificial Intelligence, Augmented Reality, and Virtual Reality).

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Conduct literature reviews in preparation for book publication
  • Collect and analyze dataPrepare materials for submission to publishers and foundations
  • Prepare interview questions
  • Maintain accurate records of interviews, safeguarding the confidentiality of subjects, as necessary
  • Summarize interviews
  • Provide ready access to all data
  • Manage and respond to project related email
  • Prepare, maintain, and update website materials
  • Supervise undergraduate students working on the research project (maintaining records on assignment completion, acting as liaison/mediator between the undergraduate students and the faculty researcher)
  • Attend project meetings
  • Attend An[0]ther {AI}ra in Art Summit April 24-26
  • Summarize and incorporate summit results into research material for publication
  • Prepare progress reports
  • Prepare other articles, reports, and presentations

The time commitment is 10-20 hours a week from now to May 31, 2019 with the possibility of continuing on during the summer.
