Eligibility

Applicants for this position must hold a PhD degree in medical/environmental anthropology, medical sociology, medical social work, public health or a related field.

Applicants must be fluent in written and spoken English along with at least one Indian language. Applicants should also be willing to learn Danish. 

Description

The Department of Global Studies at Aarhus University invites applications for a two-year, fixed-term postdoctoral position in the anthropology of plastics to begin in February 2022. The project revolves around an examination of community perceptions of the health and environmental risks and benefits of using plastic food containers and bottles; and the risks, advantages, and constraints associated with various methods of disposal of the resulting plastic wastes. The successful applicant will be expected to develop their research within the general framework of the project and should expect to conduct approximately six months of ethnographic fieldwork in rural India. Other responsibilities include contributing to the organization of workshops and events, participating in the local research group, and teach at the undergraduate and master's level.
