In Fall 2024, the Center for Science and Society and the Making and Knowing Project hosted expert textile dyers Bertha Estrada Huipe and Mateo Rodriguez Estrada. Over 10 days, students had the chance to work alongside Bertha and Mateo, learning about the materials for creating natural colors, Purépecha dyeing techniques, and the many forms of knowledge that are embedded in dyeing. This visit was supported by the Columbia Climate School and Luce Foundation.
