Eligibility:

Must be an undergraduate or graduate student at Columbia University (including Barnard College).

Required:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) 
  • Google Docs (Docs, Sheets, Slides)
  • Social Media Platforms (Facebook, Twitter).
  • Administrative experience should include data entry, filing, composing documents and spreadsheets, and performing basic research online. Candidate should have demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a team.

Preferred Experience with:

  • WordPress
  • Drupal (Columbia Sites)
  • Google Analytics 
  • Social media management platforms such as Hootsuite.
  • Overseeing social media for small organizations like university groups and clubs.

Amount: 

$16.75/hour

Description: 

The Center for Science and Society is seeking an administrative assistant to help with various general office responsibilities, with a particular focus on managing the Center’s social media platforms. Assistant will provide on-site and off-site support for the Center for Science and Society, reporting to the Project Assistant and Business Manager.

Responsibilities include: Staffing check-ins for the Center's meetings and events; performing basic clerical and administrative tasks such as organizing the Center's mailing list and share drive; overseeing the Center’s social media platforms through regular posts about current and upcoming events; searching for and posting science and society-related news articles; support Project Assistant with regular updates to the Center’s website.

We are looking for a candidate who is willing to start in February 2019. Work hours (10-20 per week) are flexible to suit the candidate’s needs.
