Eligibility

Must be current Ph.D. candidates and recent post-doctoral researchers (no more than five years since graduation), who are U.S. citizens or foreign scholars currently authorized to work in the United States.

Amount 

Fellows receive $50,000 plus health benefits over the nine-month term. 

Description

The Humanities Institute at the New York Botanical Garden is pleased to offer a full-time residential Andrew W. Mellon Research Fellowship in the novel field of Food Humanities during the academic year 2022-23 for Pre- and Post Doctoral students. Research topics should be related to food humanities, with a special focus on the multi-cultural local communities in and around the Bronx, New York, including but not limited to, histories of food and urban agriculture, food justice and food security in the Bronx, Indigenous food traditions, and history of community gardens and urban farms.
