The Robert N. Butler Columbia Aging Center and the Columbia Journalism School are accepting applications for participation in the 2023 Age Boom Academy. This October 2023 workshop will be focused on the housing crisis facing and its effect on older Americans. Seven years from now, all Baby Boomers will be over 65 — representing 21% of our population. Beyond 2030, the U.S. population is projected to age considerably and become more racially and ethnically diverse. Simply put, we know this generation and the ones to follow will live long lives. But where? And how well? And most importantly, how will housing affect their state of health?
