Event Description

Many hospitals and other health-care institutions are now becoming the victims of ransomware attacks, forced to decide whether to pay or have their patients’ private records available to others on the web.

This program will explore the unique ethical and legal challenges health-care institutions face in responding, the challenges to good decision-making and communicating about decisions, and whether to pay the ransom - or not. The program will conclude with a simulation of the first discussions that an organization’s leaders must have when an attack is suspected.
