Part of the Reframing Gendered Violence project at the Center for the Study of Social Difference, presented with the Center for Gender and Sexuality Law, and with support from the Dean of Humanities at Columbia University, GENDER AND THE TECHNOLOGIES OF STATE VIOLENCE is a discussion with Sherene Razack (Department of Gender Studies, UCLA), Nadera Shalhoub-Kevorkian (Law School, Hebrew University; International Visitor, Columbia Law School), and Miriam Ticktin (Department of Anthropology, New School University), moderated by Lila Abu-Lughod (Columbia University).

This program is part of a series of critical lectures in Reframing Gendered Violence supported by the Center for the Study of Social Difference (CSSD), the Columbia GSAS, Women Creating Change and the Center for Gender and Sexuality Law.

Reframing Gendered Violence seeks to Reframing Gendered Violence opens up a critical global conversation among scholars and practitioners that recasts the problem of violence against women as it is currently discussed in a wide range of fields, both academic and policy-oriented, including human rights, public health, journalism, law, feminist studies, literature, sociology, religious studies, anthropology, and history.

This program is co-supported by the Center for the Study of Social Difference, the Center for Gender & Sexuality Law, Women Creating Change, and the Division of Humanities in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at Columbia University in the City of New York.
